Developmental Program

What is Developmental Soccer? CASA's developmental soccer program is a sign-up based registration program—there are no tryouts; however, we will ask that players participate in an evaluation. We also expect participants to maintain a high attendance rate at all practices and games. Our goal is to teach the players sound fundamental soccer skills in a fun, yet challenging environment. Our Developmental program, which includes a fall and spring season, is a good option for families interested in developing soccer skills through structured training, but are not ready or interested in tryouts and the commitment associated with select teams.

To achieve our goal, we use professional trainers that have played soccer and want to transfer their knowledge and passion for soccer to your son or daughter. Volunteers can support their child’s team or the club by helping to perform administrative and logistical activities.

When are Sign Ups? We hold evaluations during May for the following fall, but will take sign ups through out the summer. This is when we form most of our teams which typically "stay together" for the spring season. A supplementary sign up for the Spring season typically runs from early November to mid-December.

When Do We Practice?
Developmental practice typically begins in mid-August for the Fall season and late January/early February for the Spring season and runs about 12 weeks. Practices normally start at 6:00pm for younger ages and are held twice a week on two of the following three days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Practices for older teams (i.e., Under-14) may be staggered to start after the earlier ages have completed their practice.

How are Teams Formed? Teams are organized by age using the age bracket chart into even aged teams, i.e., players that meet the Under-9 and Under-10 age criteria are normally grouped as an Under-10 (U10) team. Where numbers allows, teams will be split by gender.

Where are the Games? Games are on Saturdays in Greenville (there are occasional Sunday afternoon games). (Playing in Greenville allows our teams to play more teams at the correct skill level and allows our girl teams to play against other girl teams.)

Registration. Our secure online registration will require an initial payment towards the fees. You will also need to order a uniform if you do not have a uniform from a previous year. New players are required to supply a copy of their birth certificate and parents must sign a medical waiver.

Training Updates

Weather-related training updates will be posted to the website by 4 pm.  For more timely notification, please sign up for CASA texts and emails through RainedOut.com using the 'CASA Text Alerts' link below.
