The 2010 Annual Members meeting was held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Michelin Athletic Fields at 6 PM. Parents participated in the meeting while players enjoyed a game of "world cup".
The meeting began with a recap of accomplishments over the past year. Highlights included the following:
- fields multiple competitive challenge level teams for 2009-10 season
- holds 1st annual RMDH 24 Hour Tournament
- hires 2 full time employees to manage business (this takes excessive workload off board members). Will allow CASA to pursue working in local communities to promote youth soccer
- leases office space at 3915 Clemson Blvd Anderson SC
Chris Arnold, Executive Director, was introduced to the group and briefly discussed next steps for the club.
Wendy Miller submitted a motion to disallow members on coaching staff to serve as a voting member on the board of directors. The motion received a second. After a brief discussion regarding the current positons up for election, it was determined the motion would need review by the full board. This motion, if approved, would require changes to the club by-laws which have to be submitted to SCYSA for approval.
As a temporary measure to address the concern, the board will consider asking board members that are on the CASA coaching staff to recuse themselves from votes concerning coaching or coaching staff.
The election results are below. Each new board member ran uncontested.
President - Richard Hazelwood (1 year term)
Vice President - Blaise Bourgeois (2 year term, 2nd year as president)
Treasurer - Chris Latsch (2 year term)
Member at Large - Katy Rashid (2 year term)
Thank you to each of these parents for stepping up to become more involved with CASA.
The meeting concluded with watermelon, CASA T-shirts and soccer fun balls for each family in attendance.
